Andy: After 62 games of absolute madness, we are ready for the final game. When the tournament started, we both sat in our living room and confidently predicted an Arizona vs. Houston showdown for the title. Well, those predictions are history, along with our brackets!

Leesl: Houston definitely had a “problem” in the Sweet 16, but we’ve agreed not to rehash that heartbreak again, right Andy? I’ve officially moved on to my “rebound” team, and I’m ready for Monday night.

Andy: While my pick of the Arizona Wildcats did make it to the Final Four, they were essentially run out of the gym by Michigan. That game was practically over at halftime; the Wildcats looked rattled, trailed by 16, and never managed to mount a comeback. It was a disappointing finish for my title pick, but that’s the beauty of March—it never goes according to plan.

The Final Scorecard: By the Numbers 📊

We’ve tracked every upset and every buzzer-beater, and while our championship picks didn’t go the distance, our overall logic held up! Here is how we stacked up against the “experts” and the national average:

National PercentileTop 15%Top 5%

Andy: I’ll take the win! A two-game lead in this house is worth its weight in gold. Since I’ve officially secured the bracket title, I think a celebratory flight of our April Pint of the Month at Union Bear is in order. I’m thinking that Gold-Medal Bock has my name on it! 🏅🍺

Leesl: He may have the better record, but I’m the one who curated that flight, so I’m still claiming a partial victory! Plus, the final battle isn’t over yet. We both managed to predict one Final Four team that is actually playing for the trophy on Monday night, so we’ll be on opposite sides of the couch for the big game!

The Championship Battle: Michigan vs. UConn!

Leesl: I had UConn in my original Final Four (losing to Houston), so they are officially my team for the championship. They’ve looked like a powerhouse all month, and I’m banking on them to bring home the hardware. UConn do it!

Andy: I had Michigan in my Final Four (losing to Arizona), so those will be our teams in the Championship battle. While I’m a big MSU and Illini fan, I will be rooting for the trophy to come back to the Big Ten for the first time since 2000. It’s time!

Leesl: May the better team win… which, as we all know, is my team. 😉
