The Brew-View: Latest Update

Forget the small talk—we’re here for the action. Let’s see whose draft value shot up and whose stock took a massive hit.

Introducing The Playbook Points System (PPS): Tired of the boring, standard fantasy scoring? So were we. The PPS applies heavy factors to high-value stats (e.g., x10.0 for Triple-Doubles, x3.5 for Defense) and heavily penalizes inefficiency (Turnovers, FGA). The final net total is scaled by 10% to give us the manageable Rivalry Points you see on the scoreboard. This is the truest measure of strategic dominance!

The PPS Season Breakdown

⚡ The Rapid Review

Leesl: Let’s just get this out of the way: It was a Triple-Double Trouble this week, and the trouble for Andy was me! With a final score of 246 PPS to his 128 PPS, I believe the scoreboard speaks for itself. That isn’t just a win; it’s a statement. It’s the sound of the Pint getting poured directly into my playbook, while Andy is left staring at an empty mug.

Frankly, at this point, I’m less concerned with the “rivalry” and more concerned with getting Andy a new fantasy basketball manual. Maybe one with pictures?

What a performance! My team was on fire, but Nikola Jokic was essentially playing with a cheat code this week. He finished with multiple elite games, including a ridiculous 44-point, 13-rebound effort, and another line featuring 17 points, 10 boards, and 16 assists—all within the Triple-Double Trouble theme!

Every time I looked at the stat sheet, he was filling up multiple columns. When I needed a defensive play, he delivered. When I needed points in the clutch, he delivered. He’s not just a roster spot; he’s the foundation of my lead, and honestly, drafting him felt like taking candy from a baby—or, you know, taking a win from Andy!

Not everyone can be an MVP, and my boy Lauri Markkanen decided to take the week off, apparently. After a few high-scoring games, he gave me a truly uninspiring 17-point, 6-rebound, 4-assist night.

I draft you to dominate, not to contribute the equivalent of a single free-throw in the final two minutes of a blowout. I expect more. Unlike some players (and fantasy managers named Andy), I hold my guys accountable. Let this be a warning, Lauri—the bench is cold, and the waiver wire is calling. (But only if you do it again next week).

⚡ The Rapid Review

Andy: Okay, fine. Before Leesl decides to commission a bronze statue of herself next to the league trophy, I have to acknowledge two things: (1) Her win this week was significant, but (2) I am the reigning, dominant and utterly untouchable NFL Fantasy Champion of our household.

With our current score 246 to 128 I faced massive defeat this week. But this is not a sign of poor fantasy management; it’s a sign of a massive injury crisis—and frankly, a little bit of bad luck.

My NBA team is simply holding its breath while waiting for the injury report. I mean, how can I be expected to compete when Stephen Curry (quad), Kevin Durant (personal/family matter), and Victor Wembanyama (calf) are all currently OUT? That’s over 80 PPS sitting on the sidelines!

The only bright spot this week—other than the joy of checking my NFL standings—was the continued, quiet dominance of Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. He is the definition of efficiency, dropping massive scoring numbers while still contributing to every category. While others (cough Giannis cough) have been occasionally inconsistent, SGA is a relentless, well-oiled scoring machine.

The Final Tap

Leesl: As Andy’s section mentioned, with a healthy dose of delusion, it is correct that he is leading our “superior sport” NFL rivalry. Truly heartwarming. If he wants to talk about fantasy football while getting curb-stomped in fantasy basketball, fine. Enjoy your fleeting success in the other league, my dear. I’ll be here, sipping my victory pint, dominating the hardwood, and leaving you tackled for a loss!

Andy: Alright, Leesl. You got your shots in, and I’ll admit the “tackled for a loss” comment landed. If I’m being honest (which I almost never am in these posts), my biggest disappointment is that I failed to properly utilize my IR spots this week. I let the injured sit in my starting lineup when a healthy reserve could have provided a few extra points. This manager has been caught up watching his Chicago Bears march toward the playoffs, but it’s time to manage my team and then the “Triple Double Trouble” series is going to look a lot different. Until then, you’re merely beating my injury reserve list!
