Minor league baseball is more than just a game; it’s a beloved tradition focused on the total fan experience. The smaller, more intimate setting brings you closer to the action, making every visit feel special. And tonight, our date night took us to Riders Field, home of the Double-A Frisco RoughRiders.

A Nostalgic Welcome

The moment you walk through the gates, you feel the ballpark’s classic, small-town charm. Opened in 2003, the stadium was designed to feel like a “park within a park,” and its unique village-like design and nostalgic feel transport you to a simpler time.

It was a perfect evening for “Thirsty Thursday,” a popular weekly event with a party atmosphere that’s as much fun as the game itself. We started our night at the Bull Moose Saloon, a great spot with televisions broadcasting the game so you don’t miss a minute of the action. While there, we enjoyed a couple of Big Stick Blondes, a clean, crisp beer from Texas-based Revolver Brewing, crafted specifically for Riders Field. It’s the perfect brew to sip through a full nine innings!

A Surprise Conversation

As we enjoyed our beers, we were approached by a very kind gentleman who complimented Andy’s throwback RoughRiders shirt. We fell into an easy conversation about everything from the ballpark to team history, feeling like any other fans with a shared love for the game. He asked questions and listened attentively, making us feel like our opinions truly mattered. Our night was already a success, but it got even better when he introduced himself: we’d been talking to the team’s General Manager!

Stars on the Rise

One of the true perks of being a minor league fan is getting to see future stars on their way up, like Josh Jung and Wyatt Langford, who both spent time with the RoughRiders before hitting the big leagues. Tonight, our standout was the Rangers’ top prospect, Sebastian Walcott, who had a timely hit and played great defense. The game was a back-and-forth battle, and while the Riders didn’t hold on for the win, it was a fantastic night. With a cold beer, a fun atmosphere, and the thrill of an old-fashioned baseball game, it was a winning date night for us.
