Peace, Love & H-E-B

Can a craft beer bring about world peace? Honestly, no. But when you’ve had a long week, the right pint can absolutely save your happy hour.

We tested this theory recently when Andy and I started debating back and forth on which taphouse to visit for our monthly Pint of the Month post. We ended up in total disagreement about where to go. After trading endless suggestions and getting absolutely nowhere, we decided to take a break and head on over to our neighborhood H-E-B.

Now, there are a few universal truths when you live in the Lone Star State: football is a lifestyle, summer lasts until November, and H-E-B isn’t just a grocery store—it’s a sanctuary. While some folks go to a fancy pants spa to relax, we mosey the aisles of our local H-E-B to unwind. 🛒

So, standing there in our happy place it all came together. We loaded up the cart with four Texas brews and a spread of H-E-B’s ready-to-eat goodies! And all is right with the world. ✌️💖🤠

🏅 The Pint That Restored Our Peace: Manhattan Project’s Peacekeeper Blonde Ale!

While Andy and I couldn’t agree on anything to save our lives earlier that afternoon, we were in total, immediate agreement on this pick. Manhattan Project’s Peacekeeper Blonde Ale is light, crisp, and carries just the right kiss of natural peach flavor—refreshing enough for a Texas summer evening. It hit every single note we were looking for.

That’s not to say the rest of our H-E-B selections didn’t put up a good fight. We sampled three heavy-hitting IPAs—Shiner Off Road, Save the World Chasing Broncos, and Saint Arnold Juice Train. They all brought serious hop energy and great flavor to the table, but on a hot afternoon, Peacekeeper was the clear standout.

We had a plan –

Our plan was perfect: build a Texas-sized Charcuterie Board with our H-E-B finds, pair it with our winning pint, and take some gorgeous photos for the blog. There was just one minor problem… we started “quality control testing” while setting up. Before a single slice of smoked turkey or pulled pork could be artfully placed, we were aggressively over-snacking straight out of the plastic containers. Warm bakery chips were flying into the guac and jalapeno pimento cheese dip. The jar of pickled okra was emptied. Handfuls of salsa verde seasoned cashews were disappearing at an alarming rate. The soft & chewy pecan pralines…gone, too!

By the time the final beer vote was officially tallied, the board was picked completely clean. Zero photos taken. Not a single chip left standing.

Sometimes the best happy hours aren’t the ones you photograph—they’re the ones you completely devour.

If your weekend needs a little harmony, skip the taphouse debate and head to your favorite local spot—whether that’s your neighborhood H-E-B here in Texas or your go-to store anywhere else. Grab a crisp peach Blonde Ale, round up some warm bakery chips, dip, and pulled pork, and set up your own end-of-week feast. Just remember to take your photos before you start opening the containers!
