Nashville is famous for being a city where people go to chase big dreams. But as any classic country ballad will tell you, sometimes those dreams just end up broken on the hardwood floor of a honky-tonk.

If you were to look at the current standings for Windy City Racin’, their Nashville trip sounds exactly like one of those old-school country songs. You know the ones—where a guy loses his truck, his dog runs away, and he’s left crying into a lukewarm longneck.

Meanwhile, over at Lone Star Racin’, the jukebox is cranking, the drinks are flowing, and our Nashville dream came true in a massive way.

A Little Less Talk, A Little More Throttle: Nashville Superspeedway Recap 🎸

Andy: Well, Leesl, I have to hand it to you—Lone Star Racin’ is starting to completely run away with our household competition. You’re sitting on a huge 350-point lead, and my team is looking worse by the week. Even though I managed to land three drivers in the top ten at Nashville, it’s just not enough to match your week-in, week-out consistency. It is incredibly frustrating to see that you’ve picked up 157 more points than me over just the last three races. There was absolutely no celebrating on lower Broadway for my squad—just a lot of guys crying in their beer.

Leesl: Ya know Andy that’s why I call my team—These Boots Are Made for Racin’, and right now, they are walking all over your standings. While your team was weeping into their pints, my crew was boot-scootin’ all over Music City.

Led by my driver, Denny Hamlin, taking the checkered flag, my team finished with five drivers in the top 14 and led 126 of the 300 laps. Those final laps were absolutely beautiful to watch as JGR teammates Hamlin, Bell, and Briscoe raced door-to-door right to the finish line. While you were tracking down tissues for your drivers, we left Nashville with a dream that came true. Less talk, more throttle, Andy!

Dublin the Speed: Racing for the Pot of Gold in the Irish Hills ☘️

We are trading the neon lights of Nashville for the blinding speed of Michigan International Speedway tomorrow for the FireKeepers Casino 400!

Andy: If you have a true need for speed, MIS is the ultimate track. It’s a massive 2-mile D-shaped oval with wide turns and 18 degrees of banking. Because it’s sitting right in Detroit’s backyard, the Ford and Chevy teams feel an immense amount of pressure to perform well in front of the home crowd. Having been to this track for races myself, I can tell you it is a blast—speeds regularly clear 200 mph and cars run side-by-side all afternoon. There tends to be a ton of green-flag racing here, so don’t be surprised if the winner is decided by pure gas mileage.

Leesl: Andy can talk all he wants about Chevy and Ford defending their home turf, but my Toyotas are rolling into the Irish Hills with all the horsepower. Michigan is all about aerodynamics and raw engine power when you’re running side-by-side at 200 mph. That wide, sweeping D-shaped oval plays right into the hands of 23XI and Joe Gibbs Racing. While Andy is praying for a fuel-mileage miracle to slow my roll I am looking for that heavy Toyota speed to bring my team a fourth consecutive victory. We’re not looking for the luck of the Irish tomorrow – we’re bringing the power!

Finding the Four-Leaf Clover: Our Picks to Win

  • Andy: I’m putting my money on Brad Keselowski. He was born and raised right there in Michigan and grew up watching his dad run in both the ARCA and Truck series at this very track. He loves MIS, has a fantastic history of running well here, and nothing would taste sweeter to him than delivering a massive home-state win for Ford.
  • Leesl: Let me guess… you thought I was going to hesitate? No way! Especially considering Denny Hamlin is on the pole!!! He laid down the fastest lap in qualifying and proved exactly why he’s the man to beat tomorrow. When you’re on a three-race winning streak and your driver locks down the front row, you don’t bet against the hot hand. Hamlin takes the checkered flag in the Irish Hills!
