Welcome back to our favorite monthly tradition! While we kicked back at home for our May pick, this month we decided to take our tastebuds out for a short drive over to Historic Downtown Plano. We checked out a fantastic brand-new neighborhood addition—and we brought home an absolute giant of a winner.
Now, when we say our destination this month is “ODDly” delicious, we don’t mean strange! We are talking about a spectacular new spot called Odd Muse Craft & Kitchen. As you’ll see, there is nothing weird about this place at all—in fact, the name comes from a beautiful, heartfelt story.
Grab a cold glass, get comfortable, and let’s dive into our June Pint of the Month!
🎨 The Soul Behind the Tap: The Odd Muse Story!
Before we get to the beer and the burgers, we have to talk about the name. We always love finding the heartbeat behind the local businesses we visit, and the story behind ODD Muse is nothing short of beautiful.
While it’s a nod to the fact that artistic inspiration can strike in the most unconventional, unexpected places, the name also holds a deeply personal family secret. It is actually a direct acronym representation of the owner’s daughters: Olivia and Daniella Diaz! How cool is that?
From their Farmers Branch roots to this new Plano kitchen, they view brewing as a seamless blend of science, art, and inclusion. They actively collaborate with local artists and musicians to bring creative culture right into the taproom. Their core belief is simple and powerful: beer is universal, it belongs to everyone, and it’s meant to be a gateway to community and genuine friendship. Walking into their new space, you can truly feel that welcoming, creative energy radiating from the walls.
🏛️ The Destination: Odd Muse Craft & Kitchen (Plano, TX)
We have heard about Odd Muse Brewing Co. for years, so when we saw they were expanding with a brand-new satellite concept right in the heart of Downtown Plano, we had to see it for ourselves.
Located in the vibrant, walkable brick district at 1001 14th Street (taking over the old Voodoo Brewing space), Odd Muse Craft & Kitchen completely delivers. They’ve transformed the space into a gorgeous indoor-outdoor haven, complete with a massive patio that is absolutely perfect for a sunny afternoon.
Because this location boasts a full-service kitchen, you get all the local craft brewery goodness right alongside an incredible dining experience.
🏆 The Crown Jewel: Sluggish Ruggish Bone!
After sampling our way through a few flight options, we both kept coming back to one beer that completely stole the show. Our June Pint of the Month winner is officially Sluggish Ruggish Bone, an absolute powerhouse of a Triple New England IPA clocking in at a sneaky, smooth 9.5% ABV.
Don’t let the high percentage or the “Sluggish” name fool you—this beer dances on the palate.
- The Look: Beautifully hazy, dense, and sun-washed yellow with a thick, frothy head.
- The Hops: A massive, dry-hopped trifecta of Citra, El Dorado, and Azacca.
- The Flavor: Exploding with bright tropical punches of ripe pineapple, mango, and sweet peach.
- The Finish: Velvety, soft, and remarkably smooth with just a subtle hint of resinous pine back-beat to balance out the juice.
🍔 The Playbook Pairing: The Okie Smash Burger
Leesl’s Kitchen Notes: You can’t survive a 9.5% Triple IPA on an empty stomach, and thankfully, the kitchen side of this taproom completely delivers. To balance out the massive tropical fruit profile of the Sluggish Ruggish Bone, I placed an order for The Okie Smash Burger and it was fabulous! The crispy edge smash patties piled high with savory grilled onions. The secret to why it’s so incredibly good is that they actually squish the mustard right into the meat on the flat top before it cooks, creating this amazing, tangy, caramelized crust. That rich, savory flavor cut through the sweet, heavy haze of the 9.5% Triple IPA like an absolute charm. A flawless pairing.
🎒 The Takeaway
Whether you’re looking for a vibrant Friday night out, a casual weekend stroll through the historic downtown shops, or just want to grab a fresh 4-pack from their beer-to-go fridge, the new Odd Muse spot in Plano is a massive win for the North Texas beer scene.
Sluggish Ruggish Bone is our official soundtrack to kick off June, and we highly suggest you go secure a pour (and a burger!) before the tap handles rotate.
