Leesl: Talk about a buzzer-beater—I am diving onto the couch with absolutely zero time to spare.

If you’ve noticed things have been a little quiet around here the last couple of days where hoops are concerned, I have a confession: life completely got away from us. We have been deep in the chaotic, spreadsheet-heavy, paperwork-filled trenches of buying both a new vehicle and a travel trailer. Between tow-capacity math and dealership visits, my brain has been completely fried.

But tonight? The pens are down, the RV brochures are put away, and the TV is locked. Because ready or not, Game 1 of the NBA Finals is officially here.

🖤 Go Spurs Go: Old Loyalties Die Hard

Now, you all know I happily cheer for the Mavs out here in D-Town. But if you know my history, you know my heart belongs to San Antonio. And there is absolutely no way I am overlooking my Spurs when the Larry O’Brien trophy is sitting right on the table.

Honestly, if you told me at the start of the season that our insanely young squad would survive a grueling 7-game war against Oklahoma City to represent the West, I would have told you that you’d had one too many Triple IPAs. Yet, here we are. Coach Mitch Johnson has this team playing with unbelievable heart, and watching Victor Wembanyama step onto the absolute biggest stage in basketball at just 22 years old is nothing short of historic.

We are hosting the New York Knicks tonight at the Frost Bank Center, a team that is desperate to end a 53-year title drought. It’s a classic 1999 throwback matchup, and the energy in Texas is going to be absolutely electric.

📋 The Game 1 Blueprint:

Because I’ve been running on dealership coffee and pure adrenaline, my deep-dive stats will have to wait for the Game 1 recap. But tonight, it boils down to three simple things for the silver and black:

  1. The Wemby Factor: How do the Knicks adjust to a 7-foot-4 defensive force anchoring the paint?
  2. Containing Brunson: Jalen Brunson has been playing like a man possessed. Slowing him down at the perimeter is priority number one.
  3. Youth vs. Pressure: We are the second-youngest team to ever make the Finals. If our young guys play loose and embrace the chaos, we can steal the momentum early.

The snacks are prepped, the fridge is stocked, and the RV signing papers are officially banned from the living room for the next few hours.
