After a 2-game surge by Andy last week, Leesl’s lead is down to just 1 — picking against his Bears isn’t looking so smart anymore!

If you’re new to our site, welcome to a marriage perpetually divided by team loyalty, regional pride, and sheer stubbornness. Here’s what you need to know about us: we love good craft beer, we disagree on almost every sporting event, and we haven’t stopped keeping score since the day we said, “I do.”

Head-Scratchers & Hard Truths

Andy: Before Leesl and I lock in our Week 7 picks, we have to stop and talk about the elephant in the Metroplex: the Dallas Cowboys. No franchise in the NFL gets more hype, yet no team continues to let their fans down quite like this. On paper, the talent is undeniable. Yet here they sit at 2-4 in a wide-open division. What is going on?

Leesl: Lord deliver us. You know it’s bad when even a White Sox fan feels obligated to stage an intervention! You sound frustrated and you’re not even a Cowboys fan—imagine how it feels sitting on this couch every week watching this identical loop play out. At this point, I’m starting to wonder if this franchise is legitimately jinxed. It’s Jimmy Johnson, isn’t it? He put a hex on the Star after Jerry pushed him out.

Andy: Well, baseball had the Curse of the Bambino and the Curse of the Billy Goat, and those lasted for generations. If Jimmy is behind it, Cowboys fans are in for a very long, painful ride. So, let’s look at the real issues. Is it the owner, the scouts, the coaching, the players, or just a toxic combination of everything?

The Four Downs of Dysfunction:

  • 1st Down — The “GOTI” Offense Going Dark: During training camp, the offense bragged and nicknamed themselves “GOTI” (Greatest Offense There Is). Instead, through six games, it’s been a muddled mess. Dak Prescott and a healthy roster are completely locked in a rut, failing to sustain drives and generating only 29 total points over their last two games.
  • 2nd Down — The Hapless Defense & Hype: All offseason we heard about how defensive coordinator Christian Parker and his high-minded philosophy were going to fix the unit. But reality hits hard: Dallas ranks near the very bottom of the NFL in total defense and dead last against the run. Adding senior assistants and holding players-only meetings hasn’t changed a thing—the unit looks identical to last year’s collapse.
  • 3rd Down — Bad Special Teams Momentum: Even with an elite kicker who can clear the uprights from the parking lot, special teams blunders are popping up at the worst possible moments. Whether it’s giving up chunk yards on return coverage or failing to flip field position, the hidden third phase of the game is draining the team’s momentum.
  • 4th Down — Self-Inflicted Penalties & Freeze-Ups: The team completely shoots itself in the foot with unforced errors and disciplined collapses when it matters most. It’s a systemic culture problem. This franchise knows how to win casual regular-season games, but under real pressure, they completely freeze up.

Leesl: There is only one constant left to blame. Like most true Cowboy fans, I put this entire disaster squarely on Jerry Jones. The man wants to be the owner, the GM, the head coach, wave the pom poms, and he’d probably call the plays directly from the press box if they let him in! The only job he won’t do is walk out onto the field and take a hit!! Until he finally stays out of his own way and lets actual football people run the show, we’re stuck in this cycle. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’m putting my star-shaped glasses back on because as all good Dallas fans know – our miraculous turnaround starts on Monday Night!!

🔒 Week 7 is locked and loaded! It all comes down to two big splits. Let’s look at the table!

Where We Split ⚡

Only on picks… we still share the nachos!

1. GB at DET

Leesl (DET): Detroit coming off a bye week with two full weeks to scheme at Ford Field is dangerous! Jared Goff is on fire, and his play-action execution is going to put massive pressure on Green Bay’s linebackers. Add in the revenge factor after the Packers swept them last season, and Motor City takes this division battle! 🦁

Andy (GB): Never write off Green Bay in a high-stakes divisional matchup! Jordan Love and this offense thrive on proving doubters wrong when everyone jumps ship. If the Packers defense can force a couple of key takeaways early, Green Bay silences Ford Field once again. 🧀

2. KC at SEA

Leesl (KC): You never bet against Patrick Mahomes in primetime! Seattle might be the reigning Super Bowl champs, but they’ve dropped two straight games—including a brutal overtime loss to Denver last week. With the Seahawks stumbling and Andy Reid having extra time to game plan, Mahomes and the Chiefs capitalize on Seattle’s slump! 🏹

Andy (SEA): The 12th Man at Lumen Field is the ultimate equalizer on Sunday night! Seattle is desperate to break out of this two-game slide, and there’s no better place to make a statement than at home against Kansas City. Give me the crowd noise, the reigning champs’ defense, and the Seahawks bounce-back! 🦅

📜 Our House Rules:

The only non-negotiable rule in our house: No matter the spread, the injury report, or how rough the matchup looks, Leesl is legally obligated to ride with the Cowboys, and Andy must back the Bears. Picking against your own team is grounds for immediate disqualification and total public shame.

Post-Game Settlement 🏆

Leesl: A one-game lead is way too stressful for a Sunday! I’m going with Detroit and Kansas City to try and get my three-game safety net back—because if my lead disappears completely this week, I’m just going to blame Jerry Jones for ruining my luck.

Andy: Just remember, when Green Bay and Seattle come through and erase that one-game lead, Jerry isn’t the one who picked against them—you did!

Over to You! 📣

With the standings separated by just a single game, who do you think is putting together the “GOTI” (Greatest Offense In Picking) this week? Will Leesl extend her lead with Detroit and KC, or is Andy poised to take over first place?
