New week, new leader. Andy’s enjoying his moment in first place, but around here, momentum shifts fast. Game on for Week 9!

If you’re new to our site, welcome to a marriage perpetually divided by team loyalty, regional pride, and sheer stubbornness. Here’s what you need to know about us: we love good craft beer, we disagree on almost every sporting event, and we haven’t stopped keeping score since the day we said, “I do.”

Head-Scratchers & Hard Truths

Andy: Oh, momentum shifts fast alright—especially when you dropped two games in one week and handed me the top spot. But our household wasn’t the only place with some second half drama. Cincy had to climb out of a 13-0 deficit to beat Tennessee in OT, Miami gave up a half-time lead to New England, and the Jets… well, they did what the Jets do best and blew a 9-point lead to lose again. I must admit, sitting in first place makes watching everyone else sweat that much more enjoyable!

Leesl: Easy for you to enjoy the show when it’s not your team collapsing at home! Watching Dallas surrender a 14-point fourth-quarter lead to a backup QB was bad enough, but sitting through Arizona running for over 200 yards on us was brutal. We both took the loss on paper, but Cowboys fan fatigue is real—so I’m focusing my attention on fixing my pick sheet instead of stressing over the Boys.

Andy: “Not stressing,” huh? That’s cute. But let’s be real—the only reason I’m in first place is because I called Detroit taking down Minnesota before the Chargers even woke up. Sweeping our differences felt great, but watching you try to act unbothered by it is the real bonus.

Leesl: Don’t get too high on your horse, South Side. A single-game lead vanishes faster than a cold beer on a hot Texas afternoon—even in November. Just remember, things change fast around here—just ask the guy who was trailing me seven days ago!

🔒 No turning back now—Week 9 picks are locked tight. We’ve got two major battlegrounds on the board this week, so let’s dive into the table and see where we split.

Where We Split ⚡

Only on picks… we still share the nachos!

1. CIN at ATL (Madrid)

Leesl (CIN): Andy, I think you are overthinking this one by taking Atlanta across the Atlantic! Cincinnati has way too much firepower, and Joe Burrow connecting with Ja’Marr Chase is going to look just as elite in Spain as it does at home. International games come down to execution, and I’m trusting the Bengals’ offense to handle the trip and light up the scoreboard. 🐅

Andy (ATL): You might call it overthinking, but long-distance travel turns favored teams sluggish every single time. Atlanta’s ground game with Bijan Robinson is built to control the pace and keep Joe Burrow sitting on the bench. While everyone else jumps on the Bengals bandwagon, I’m taking the Falcons to dictate the game in Madrid! 🦅

2. NYG at PHI

Leesl (NYG): I’m not sure why you’re rushing to back Philly here, Andy—they’re 2-6 and trotting out a 3rd-string quarterback! Asking a backup QB to carry an already struggling team through a heated division rivalry is a recipe for mistakes. As long as the Giants stay disciplined and contain Saquon, New York takes this one on the road. 🗽

Andy (CHI): You’re letting one position scare you off a solid team! Philly still has Saquon Barkley running revenge laps against his former team and one of the best lines in football to lean on. A 3rd-string QB doesn’t have to carry the team—they just need to hand off to Saquon and let the defense do the heavy lifting. Philly secures the home win! 🔔

📜 Our House Rules:

The only non-negotiable rule in our house: No matter the spread, the injury report, or how rough the matchup looks, Leesl is legally obligated to ride with the Cowboys, and Andy must back the Bears. Picking against your own team is grounds for immediate disqualification and total public shame.

Post-Game Settlement 🏆

Leesl: Enjoy that one-game cushion while you can, Andy! Six straight losses for Philly means it is the absolute perfect time for a Giants-sized ambush, and I am happily riding with the G-Men and the Bengals to completely wreck your weekend. By Tuesday morning, order will be officially restored to our household when I’m the one sitting a game ahead. Don’t look back, hubby—I’m right on your heels.

Andy: Right on my heels is exactly where you belong! You’re leaning hard on the odds and the experts, but division games and international travel are a whole different beast. Plus, betting on the G-Men to save your season on the road is a mighty bold strategy. Good luck trying to catch me!
