They say you can’t break anything in a bowling alley. Challenge accepted.

For National Bowling Day, we checked out Strikz Entertainment in Frisco. It is a fantastic, locally owned spot with a comfortable, neighborly vibe. It’s the kind of place where people are just there to laugh and have fun.

Which was perfect, considering we managed to break the first two lanes we were assigned. It wasn’t a perfectly polished, five-star night, but the charm and good humor of the staff made it a total win.

While the staff worked on resetting our second broken lane, we shifted our focus to the “pints” portion of our evening. This isn’t a dedicated craft brewery, but the Strikz Bar & Grill holds its own with a solid lineup of local independent beers.

More importantly, they have pizza rolls.

As we are self-proclaimed non-foodies, finding pizza rolls on a menu is our version of hitting a perfect 300 game. Crispy, cheesy, and completely unpretentious—it was exactly the kind of lane-side fuel we needed.

The Scorecard: A Five-Game Rollercoaster

Once our lane situation finally stabilized, the real battle began. We ended up grinding out a brutal five-game series. Andy struck first blood by taking Game 1, but I found my groove and locked down Games 2 and 3. With my back against the wall, I was feeling confident—until Andy rallied to take Game 4. It all came down to a high-stakes fifth-game tiebreaker, and Andy managed to edge me out for the ultimate National Bowling Day bragging rights.

Leaving It All in the Arcade

To shake off the sting of that game-five loss, we wandered over to check out the Strikz Arcade. They have a really nice selection of games that instantly bring back that classic, nostalgic fun. Whether you want to race, shoot, or test your skills on the prize games, it’s the perfect spot to keep the competitive energy going (or just distract yourself from your bowling score).

At the end of the night, our National Bowling Day wasn’t a perfectly polished, corporate-packaged evening—and that’s exactly why we loved it. Between breaking two lanes, crushing an elite plate of pizza rolls, and battling through a five-game marathon, it felt alive, quirky, and genuinely fun. If you’re in the Frisco area and want a comfortable spot where you can just laugh and play without taking yourselves too seriously, skip the flashy chains and go give Strikz some love.
