Sometimes a “quick drop-in” to catch the leaderboard at Augusta turns into a full-blown discovery. We ventured over to Armor Brewing Co. in Allen, Texas yesterday—a spot we realized we haven’t properly shared with y’all yet. If you’re looking for a brewery that feels less like an industrial warehouse and more like a high-end destination, this is it!

The Atmosphere: Design Meets Draughts 🎨🍺

It’s no surprise the vibe here is so polished—the co-owner is Jenn Todryk, the star of HGTV’s No Demo Reno. You can feel that “designer’s touch” in every corner. It’s not just a place to grab a pint; it’s a thoughtfully designed space that makes you want to linger. We’re talking:

  • Interactive Dart Rooms that are perfect for a little friendly rivalry.
  • Pickleball Courts for those who want to earn their beer.
  • Firepits & Covered Outdoor Spaces that make you want to stay for “just one more.”

The Pint: The Mystery of “Road to Rink” 👟⛸️💍

We happened to time our visit perfectly. Armor had posted on Facebook on April 9th that “tomorrow is the big day,” and we walked in right on the 10th to find the tap list’s newest guest of honor: Road to Rink.

There wasn’t a big explanation on the menu, but a little digging revealed the heart behind the brew. It’s a Bespoke English Dark Mild (4.6% ABV) crafted specifically to celebrate the anniversary of a local couple, Emily and Luke. The name is a heartfelt tribute to their shared passions: running (the Road) and hockey (the Rink). It’s a beautifully malty, easy-drinking toast to a “sweet journey” together.

The Playbook: The #1 Cheese Curds in Town! 🧀🏆

Now, let’s talk about the real MVP of the afternoon: The Cheese Curds. I don’t say this lightly, but these might be the best curds around. They are Wisconsin White Cheddar, served with a side of ranch and spicy marinara, and they are addictive. Armor’s scratch kitchen really elevates the whole experience—it’s “legit” food that actually competes with the beer for your attention.

Leesl’ Look-See: 🔍💖

What really impresses me about Armor is the sheer technical skill coming out of the brewhouse. They don’t just stick to the easy crowd-pleasers; they take on challenging, nuanced styles that require a lot of discipline to get right. I sampled the Blood Orange Gose, and it is easy to see why it has been a consistent winner at the U.S. Open Beer Championship, taking home a Silver in 2024 and the Gold Medal in 2025. It is absolutely amazing—bright, crisp, and perfectly balanced. It’s refreshing to find a local spot where the “Pint” is every bit as award-winning and sophisticated as the decor.

Overall, Armor Brewing is a rare find that manages to be a high-end destination while keeping its “hometown brewery” soul intact. If you want a spot with world-class service, a stylish atmosphere, and food that is far from “basic bar snacks,” this is a must-visit. It’s the perfect place to settle in, enjoy the decor, and maybe solve a beer mystery of your own.
