Week of November 2, 2025

The sports gods were not smiling on the Big D this week. While my Dallas teams are built for the long haul, Andy’s Chicago teams are surging right now. With the Bears posting a big win and the Bulls roaring to their best start in three decades, Chi-Town takes the weekly bragging rights. D-Town needs a massive bounce-back!

🏈 Gridiron Glory (NFL)

D-TOWN: Dallas Cowboys

Leesl: The Cowboys are in a much-needed Week 10 Bye. After the disappointing loss to the Cardinals, this week is about fixing the run defense and getting healthy. This break is a time for everyone, from players to coaches, to individually reflect on their performance and figure out how they can be better for the team.

Record: 3-5-1

CHI-TOWN: Chicago Bears

Andy: The Bears (5-3) are on a roll. They beat the Bengals 47-42 and are set to face the struggling Giants this Sunday. The offense has become a balanced and dangerous unit. They rank highly in several key metrics: 6th in scoring; 2nd in rushing yards per game and 3rd in total offense. My Bears are resilient, and exciting to watch!

Record: 5-3

🏀 Hoops Heat (NBA)

D-TOWN: Dallas Mavericks

Leesl: My Mavs had a difficult week, losing to the New Orleans Pelicans and then getting blown out by the Memphis Grizzlies. Their struggles with consistent shooting were evident, particularly from three-point range, and their defense had trouble containing opposing guards like the Grizzlies’ Ja Morant. They continue to fight through offensive and defensive struggles.

Record: 2-7

CHI-TOWN: Chicago Bulls

Andy: My Bulls are proving that team chemistry and defense are beating star power right now. While Leesl’s Mavs are struggling for consistency, Chicago’s bench is locked in. They are playing smart, fundamental basketball ranking high in the league for assists per game (2nd) and are in the top 10 for points and rebounds per game.

Record: 6-2

🏒 Blade Battles (NHL)

D-TOWN: Dallas Stars

Leesl: My Stars are in a challenging phase right now with the defense being a point of concern. Their most recent game they suffered a 7-5 loss to the Anaheim Ducks after leading 2-0 after the first period but then allowed the Ducks to score four goals in the second period, effectively losing control of the game. This week we need strong home ice presence against a trio of diverse opponents.

Record: 7-4-3

CHI-TOWN: Chicago Blackhawks

Andy: Overall, after several seasons of rebuilding and missing the playoffs, my Blackhawks are exciting to watch, they are competitive with strong play from their young core and solid goaltending. When the young players are clicking and veterans like Bertuzzi deliver, they are the most exciting team to watch in this rivalry. Winning their last two games with shutouts, my Blackhawks have the momentum.

Record: 7-5-3

🎤 And, that’s that…

Andy: I am just going to say it: my teams absolutely crushed yours this week. The numbers don’t lie, and the math is pretty painful for the Big D. My Chi-Town teams claimed the most compelling victories across the board, starting with the Bulls whose blazing start in the NBA completely overshadowed your sputtering Mavericks.

Leesl: Your Bears are steadily marching toward the top of the division while thankfully my Cowboys are on their bye and safely avoiding another loss. And while my Stars are consistent, they simply could not match the excitement and clutch factor of the Blackhawks’ most recent win. I must concede the bragging rights for the week to the Windy City faithful. Andy, enjoy the well-deserved win this week, but never forget that the tide turns fast in Texas!
