Week 6:
The DakStreet Boys against the Carolina Panthers!
Leesl: “My America’s Team” continues to disappoint. 🤦♂️ The defensive performance, especially, is embarrassing and highlights systemic failures across the board. The numbers are impossible to spin: we rank dead last in total yards and passing yards allowed, and sit at or near the bottom of the league in points allowed. Our pass defense is arguably the worst in the NFL, and the run defense fluctuates between average and absolutely dead last. 📉
The core frustration is the inability to adjust. Game after game, opponents exploit the same glaring weaknesses, proving that the coaching staff either can’t, or won’t, change the plan. Defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus’ zone-heavy scheme is proving to be a poor fit for the defensive roster. The on-field struggles show a clear lack of communication, confidence, and overall buy-in. It feels like we are forcing players to cover receivers when that’s fundamentally not their skill set, exposing serious gaps in the roster’s depth and talent.
As a lifelong fan, it’s the same emotional rollercoaster ride that never ends. Seriously, offense, defense—does it really matter? The number one thing they have going for them is Jerry Jones’ unwavering confidence in himself. Considering the team hasn’t been to a Super Bowl since the 90’s, he sure has a lot of faith in this franchise. I’m sure our season is totally getting ready for a big turnaround! 🙄
Da Bears vs the Washington Commanders!
Andy: Thanks to a tenacious defense, da Bears are now on a glorious three-game winning streak and are officially a dark horse playoff contender! And, Leesl’ Cowboys lost another game! 🥳
These victories are far from pretty, but the Bears are showing growth by securing scrappy, comeback wins! From a game-saving blocked field goal last week to this week’s dramatic walk-off kick, these Bears are proving they know how to finish.
However, let’s be real – this is far from a perfect team. While they’re winning, they are consistently making self-inflicted mistakes, like penalties and turnovers, that make every game a nail biter. Caleb Williams is a promising, developing playmaker who has displayed significant improvement in his clutch decision-making. His biggest challenge remains his inconsistency with accuracy, particularly on deep throws. The defense is also inconsistent, showing both good and bad moments and struggling to be a consistently reliable unit.
At 3-2, I’m happy with the new coach and results. It looks like they are improving and adapting their style by the game. As a lifelong fan, 3 game winning streaks are rare, so I will take it and look forward to this week against New Orleans at home. When they beat the Saints, it will be their first 4 game winning streak in 7 seasons!
LET’S GO BEARS! 🍻
The Week Ahead
The focus now shifts to Week 7. For my Cowboys, it’s a desperate NFC East battle at home against the Washington Commanders — a must-win game where the offense must carry the struggling defense. My prediction is that Dallas will win…barely. For Andy’s surging Bears they host the struggling New Orleans Saints at Soldier Field, a game they should win comfortably if Caleb Williams plays clean. Andy’s prediction: da Bears win!
